Freddie will represent Hungary!

Once again, the Hungarian broadcaster has chosen to use A Dal as the process in selecting the act for Eurovision. The final took place in the weekend past, with eight diverse entries to choose from. The show was hosted by Csilla Tatar and Levente Harsanyi, and the interval acts were Boggie (2015 Eurovision participant) and 2009 winner Alexander Rybak.

The running order for the show was:

  • Mushu – Uncle Tom

  • Parno Graszt – Már nem szédülök

  • Olivér Berkes & Andi Tóth – Seven Seas

  • Petruska – Trouble in My Mind

  • GergÅ‘ Oláh – GyÅ‘z a jó

  • Freddie – Pioneer

  • Kállay Saunders Band –Who We Are

  • André Vásáry – Why

The first round of voting decided who would continue to the superfinal, and it was Freddie, Gergő Oláh, Kállay Saunders Band and Petruska who advanced to the second round. After the next round of voting, Freddie was crowned as the winner of the night, with his song Pioneer.

Freddie’s real name is Gábor Alfréd Fehérvári, and became known as ‘shower boy’ whilst on the show ‘Rising Star’ after admitting that for a long time, his only audience was the shower head. Freddie is new on the music scene in Hungary but has a growing fan base due to his unique voice.

You can listen to the song below, and remember, if Freddie is your new favourite Eurovision act, vote for him in the poll, which you can find here.
